I'm promoting a Window Cleaner of the Year Award for a client that sells replacement windows and doors and wondered where I can access facts and figures on window cleaning, like:
How many windows does a window cleaner clean on average per house/per year?
Do they work to a system (upstairs first)?
Do they just use water?
How many window cleaners are there in the UK?
If anyone can help, please email me ASAP. The NFMWGC has not replied to my messages.

Sorry no-one seems to have been able to help with your statistics. The National Federation are certainly the ones that would be able to help and it's dissapointing that they have not responded to you.
It may be worth contacting a manufacturer like Ettore based in Huddersfield on tel 01484-850728 (if you ask for Fesse Jaye he is more than helpful and knows his stuff!)

apart from the "how many" i think we are all different...we all have different amounts...take longer .. do it inm a different way etc....apart from the fact we are all window cleaners , we aint got much in common

Hi Tracey,

I imagine that data would be extremely difficult to accurately collect.  Not all window cleaners are members of the NFMW&GC.  Even for members, the fed would have to send them questionaires to collect such data.  

The federation is non-profit making body, and I doubt it would be willing to send questionaires to its members for this reason, and using resources to help a private company for little benefit to its members might be considered irresponsible.

However, I have an idea that may help you - why don't you set up a web page with an online form.  Direct us forum members to it by means of a post and we could fill it in online.  I'm not sure how difficult that would be for you to set up, but you probably know more about this than me.

Personally I wouldnt mind spending a few minutes filling in an online form.  I'm sure other members wouldnt mind too.  If you need any help choosing your questions, just ask.  (some of your proposed questions are a little bit inappropriate - "do they use just water" is a bit like saying "what time is it- YES or NO?" there are many different methods depending on the job)

last estimate i heard was 100,000 -125,000

for a start; not all window cleaners clean houses theres
lots commercial shiners especally in the big cities like myself; all windows are different size;style on any given
day i might clean as many as 200 windows on office workother days 40-50 its all different its gonna be very
difficult to get exact figures you could only base it on average  good luck

but its all to late anglian beat kate to it anglian will be
doing press releases shortly in spring time,I did an all
round the country radio interveiws with there top
