just cant win!!

took the gearbox off my yanmar this morning, to get a bolt hole re threaded, little bit of metal fell out when i pulled it away from the shaft. the whole key has sheared off and the shaft is knackered!  :'(

all from one bolt being loose for a couple of months. she was working sweet too..

looking at£400ish but all the oil seals and gaskets and full service..so i should have a basically new machine afterwards though.

thought i got a good deal when i bought it, but i guess thats the price you pay for buying anything second hand..

just cant seem to get in front at the moment.. whine over..

oh, does anyone know if you can buy just the sleeve from the gearbox? the part that the shaft slides into? the sleve inside the gearbox has been knackered too, and i dont really want to buy a whole new gearbox. unless someones got one second hand??

Hi matt I have a gd411 honda with the gearbox still on, can't get it off, not sure if the sleeve is there, text me a picture of the part you need and I'll see if I have it on the gearbox...
You know you can buy a new keyway stick for about £7? or is it the full shaft you need?

no mate, its the whole shaft.

The keyway stick (the little straight bit of metal?) has vibrated and ground out the shaft and part of the groove in the shaft has snapped off. there was a couple of loose bolts on the gearbox. i sorted one out and had it tight, but apparently the damage was already done. do you have a link for the keyway sticks anyway?

I had a bit of a search for the part i need, basically its where the engine shaft slides into the gearbox, i found a exploded diagram of the gearbox and it looks like the female part i need is actually the small gear inside the box. so im guessing its a second hand box for me.

Whats up with the gearbox youve got? is it still ok?
