It seems loctite do a plastic sealing compound.

Probable got a mix of NPT & BSP  (national pipe thread  and british standard pipe ) or garden hose thread there. There all close but not exactly the same. Take them apart and check, they will probably seal OK with plenty of PTFE tape.

"Plumbers Mate" fixes everything, can get it anywhere even Wicks and B&Q  and very cheap, its like window putty and comes in a tub, just pack the threads and tighten. Dont think it will effect the TDS.

I have done it.

PTFE tape was not enough on its own.

I put some LS-X jointing compound on the male thread. It does not set hard. Then plenty of ptfe tape on top of that.

Stoped it leaking.
