Interesting stuff from Google
« on: February 07, 2012, 03:17:20 pm »
Slightly late I knowbut have a look at this.

http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/2012/02/17-search-quality-highlights-january.html

You can ignore most but then go down to the bit that says "And here's a recap...."

Google is effectively telling us what they want to see.

i use pretty much every service google provide and don't pay a penny accept for adwords, which is odd given they're "only about money". i get free search, free maps, free android os with many free apps, free analytics, free webmaster tools, free merchant tools, free calendar, free address book, free email. hmm

They are just biding their time Adam. They know all the sites you've visited and what you are interested in.  ;)
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Thats because they have a licence to print money from adwords, a worldwide monopoly. Perhaps me and you pay perhaps £50 to £150 per month.
Think of the BIG companies that can pay many thousands per week and multiply it by perhaps a million worldwide companies prepared to pay big money.

I also likey Google cause you can find out how to remove colour run from rug fringes without consulting a ''Guru''  ;D

but they deserve that "license to print money from adwords" as they have worked hard to be the best search engine that everyone goes to. to me it's the number one way we advertise and most months it's the only way we advertise.

with or without all the free services google offer i'd still use adwords so saying everything they do is for money is daft imo. i'd glady pay for the services they provide but i don't and never will

People have short memories. It wasn't too long ago you would use Alta Vista or Netscape was it? and the results were pants..... then Google came along.

Ironically, and I think it's a Google+ thing, I have for the first time ever been getting a lot of irrelevant search results from Google. :'(

alta vista? too young to know those old names sorry.

othe then timing, what reason do you have to blame g+ for irrelevant results? what do you class as irrelevant results? searching for carpet cleaning and getting the nearest circus in town?
