They love it because it is a cheap alternative to having it done properly. :'(

I was in "The Range" last week in Truro where they were taking stock of the dreaded RD....

I was returning unused wall paper to the store and was having a chat with the manageress...

"I see your getting those horrible things for your customers to knacker their carpets with!" I said with a cheeky grin... I went on about the problems my customers have had in the past when doing things on the cheap...

"I heard they were good!" she said "I'm going to hire one for myself, or at least I was.... Have you got a business card so I can book you in?" ;D

Maybe a good idea would be to hang around, touting for customers at the RD stand.... ;D

I did this in Tesco , a chap was looking at the machine and picked up a leaflet while I was at the check out , I then spotted him in the car park gave him a card ,  he booked me in a few days later !

Like the second comment on there about Bronze
and Platinum clean.
"Surely you either clean a carpet or don't"

Actually talks some sense.

Everyone needs a basic tool kit in their home, but what about those power tools that you rarely use? They can cost a small fortune to buy but if you only need them once a year or less then there’s very little point in purchasing them.

Instead, why not rent them when you do need them? Companies like HSS and Hire Station have branches across the UK and rental prices are lower than you might expect. For example, you can hire a power planer for under £24, or a worktop jig for just over £20.

A spray extraction carpet cleaner can cost over £300 new, but you can rent one for just over £35 a day. Unless you’re planning to use it very regularly, it makes real sense to rent it instead.

Hi Paul

We did the same in Morrisons last month. The lady was bringing it back because when she loaded it in to her car it made her car boot dirty..She was not happy & ask for her money back.

We gave her a business card, she booked us in to do her 3 bed house,we also cleaned her car boot aswell  ;)

It's all about perception and how you sell it.
Most people not all, not wanting to look like cheapskates and choose bronze will go for the silver option.
Bronze - Standard clean. £2.00 per m2
Silver - as bronze but with stain or odour treatments and deodorise - £3.00 per m2
Gold - as silver, with stain protector - £4.00 per m2
(example rates just to explain)
Of course there are cheapskates out there ;D so you will get your lower rate interest.
But if you don't like upselling, don't believe in bait and switch, then this is quite a good alternative to advertise. :)

If someone is happy with the results of the rug doctor, they either have very low expectations, their carpets are not too bad before they start, or they have never had their carpets cleaned by a professional.
My truck mount v RD, no contest!!!!!!

I have found that a high percentage of my customers have used a Rug Doctor in the past and have NOT been happy with the results. A high percentage of people also said that thier carpets looked dirtier after there effort and it took forever to dry and was very herd work. They are amazed at the results I achieve and how easy I make it look.
