I peddle the 'your carpet is a filter for your home/hardfloors are worse for your health' line. But I think it comes from suppliers and carpet manufacturers and I haven't really wanted to find out if it's true or not.

Several years ago there was big publicity about a report that said hard floors were best.
The report was funded by --   The Hard Flooring Assoc and the 'scientist' involved was the wife of the President of the aforesaid asscn.
So much for impartiality.

Hard floors and laminates market share has significantly decreased in the last few years probably because of the back to carpet campaign and the fact that you have to keep sweeping and mopping the bloody stuff, ideally you should have a happy mix therefore not over balancing one or the other.
