What's the best way and the best stuff to
use to polish up scuffed and dull aluminium.
I have a Kirby vac that's looking a little dull.

It does.....
When I was in the White Helmets we used to "bull" the carbs on the Triumphs with autosol, and they were aluminium, after a while came up glowing....

Just a thought but... Once polished up and looking good you could spray with clear laquer to seal the shine and protect the aluminium.

What lacquer do you recommend?
Is autosol available at local shops/supermarkets?

Inspired by your posting I polished mine up. I used Silvo wadding that I had in the house and a couple of old towels that were due for the bin anyway.
It's come up a treat. Took most of the evening, mind you. Tried to upload photos, but no joy there.
