I have just bought a new Roots 45 blower for my TM, where can I get the correct synthetic oil for topping it up?

Hi Studrink,

Just wondered where you bought your new blower from?   I have a roots 47 blower which may need replacing / reconditioning at some point in the near future.

cheers,
Pete  ::)

Aeon PD is almost impossible to get in the uk. Hydramaster do blower oil in their online shop. I have just bought and changed mine in December.

Yes and I'm sure its normal mineral oil as opposed to synthetic (which I'm sure HM recommend). Why the synthetic anyway? Do Roots say it has to be?

Mineral oil degrades very quickly and loses its lubrication and heat dissipation properties, whereas synthetic lasts much longer without degrading... ideal in a situation where long service intervals are likely, and more extreme operating environments.

There's a lot of mis-information about oils.  For example, my TM engine is made by Kubota

Kubota themselves say you should use mineral oil...... Blueline say you should use fully synthetic in the engine........ But Alltec's service engineer says you should use part-synthetic.

So who the F are you supposed to believe??!!!

Depends how often you want to change it. I know which I prefer.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.
