I have just waterproofed my Fiat ducato van floor at the weekend with protecakote.
To say I'm impressed is an understatement. It's fantastic stuff, and the finish is better then many I've seen. I was going to have it sprayed on at a garage, but decided I wanted to do it myself.
Preparation is the key to a good job. If the van floor is plylined, take it out, you need to coat the metal on the van floor.Rub it down lightly, just to take the gloss of the painted surface. This allows the paint to adhere more to the surface. Clean off and wipe with Xylene. Mask up and your ready to go.
I would recommend doing it with a quality short bristle brush. Had a go with a stripple roller and it was crap.Apply one coat 4" up the sides including wheel arches.Dont worry at the finish on the first coat, it looks rubbish, Dont try putting the first coat on to thick, you will spoil the finnish. The key to sucsess is when you apply the second coat. You start to apply the second coat when the first is touch dry, Because the first coat as not completly cured The second coat sticks like glue. you can put it on more thickly and you will be amazed at the transformation.
You will have to walk on the first coat.Put plastic bags over your trainers, and a small board to knell on or to sit on while you do it. Wear a charcoal mask while your painting it on unless your into glue sniffing in a big way. Because the fumes from it will kick you up the arse.
http://www.surecleansystems.com/shopfloor.asp?cat=Van%20Bedliner%20Kits&subcat=Black. THIS IS CHEAP.Done mine in black.I think its the best colour and the cheapest to boot.4ltr tin will be more then enough.
I did not waste my money on speedliner. Protecakote is better. I looked at one guys van setup, it had speedliner wheel arches, The speedliner had cracked on the van floor so he painted the floor with protecakote. So is entire fleet now as protecakote.
ITs used extensiveley in the marine industry, so do youir wallet and van a favour.
