Salt stains on ferry
« on: November 25, 2011, 08:30:48 pm »
Hi all,

Going to look at a job on the local ferry tomorrow,  they have some fairly bad salt stains that need cleaning along with general carpet cleaning, apart from lots of hot water is there anything else that will make light work of it ?

Think some of it has gone quite hard in places so will need to suggest something that is going to be fairly effective.

Regards
Steve

Maybe a steam cleaner to blast the hard bits and soften them before extracting?

Steve,
They are next to impossible to remove, so don't over promise on it. They leave really nasty white marks that seem to bleach the carpet.

I'm not sure if its the same kind of relevant chemistry but last winter, we had lots of success on white council grit stains using Chemspec DFC 210 pre spray followed by DFC 105 rinse.

Completely different kind of salt, these stains are saline which bleaches the carpet and begins to rot it making removal impossible, especially as most have been there for a long time.

Ok thanks for the advice,

its useful to know that they can bleach the carpet as i know they will probably suggest that they should come out easy as always  ::)

Will see what happens

Cheers
