Re-advertising Escort van for sale
« on: November 22, 2005, 10:18:54 am »
 RE-ADVERTISING.  NOW WITH A BRAND NEW M.O.T. AND A £100 PRICE REDUCTION.

Escort 55 van 1.8 diesel. White.  Not sign written.
57,300 miles.
"W" Reg (2000).
Taxed till 30/4/06.
New MOT.
Ex BT (until early 2004) and has been used to service my window cleaning round since then.
I'm asking £1,800 for it (no VAT as private sale).  That's £1,800 O.N.O.  I'm prepared to discuss it but the asking price looks fair compared with others I've seen advertised.

GOOD POINTS.
Regularly serviced since new (as BT do with their vehicles).  I had a full service carried out and cambelts changed in February 2005 (at 49,000 miles). I have a printout from BT showing when their services occured.  I also have a photocopy of the receipt showing when I had the cambelt kit changed (I need to keep the original for tax deduction purposes).  Cambelts on Escorts these days are changed at 70,000 mile intervals (or 5 yearly) so it won't have to be changed again for ages.

The vehicle has usually been kept overnight in a garage since I bought it (May 2004).

There is a mesh bukhead fitted in this vehicle.  Also, the sides are set up ready to have racking installed (racking not supplied).  The rear door has a "slam door" security lock fitted.

I have only recently taxed this vehicle for 6 months so no problem there.

Previous MOTs available as proof of mileage since 3 years old.
Mileage is about average for the year (if you call 10,000 per year average).

Battery was changed last Winter so should be OK for several years.

There are Thule roofbars on this vehicle which I'm prepared to let you have if required.  The roofbars are well worn but functional (I've had them a few years as they were on my previous Escort too).

-------------------------------------------

NOT SO GOOD POINTS.
Slightly chipped paintwork where rear door security lock was fitted.  Also, this rear door is a very slight mismatch in colour.  I suspect that the door with the security lock may have been taken from another vehicle to save refitting the lock.

I have removed the orange light from the top of the vehicle.  Unfortunately, the light is in exactly the same position as the front roof bar and had to be removed to accommodate it.  I have kept the light and all its bits and pieces so you can re-fit if required.

Offside headlamp has a stone chip but this has just passed a new M.O.T. as it's not in line with the beam.

The half way setting on the interior light isn't working.

--------------------------------------------------------

OK so it's not perfect but it's in good shape for a 5+ years old vehicle.  I believe the service intervals on these vans are now 10,000 miles or one year (whichever comes first) so there is still 2,000 miles until the next scheduled service.   I would happily have continued running it but I have switched to cleaning windows by water fed pole now and have bought a van with a larger payload.  It is possible to fit a 250 litre tank in an Escort or even use it with a trolley/container setup but I decided that I wanted to upgrade to a larger van instead.

I live in the Gatwick area.
Payment by cash (preferably) or by cheque.  If payment is by cheque, the vehicle will only be released upon clearance of funds.
I have most of the WFP equipment that I need now but may be prepared to take certain items in part exchange.
