worth starting out?
« on: November 14, 2011, 10:40:42 am »
Hi, First post so here goes....

I've lived in my current house for 15 years now. In all that time I've never had a knock on the door or a flyer through the door from a window cleaner. Come to think about it i don't think I've ever seen a cleaner working around the local streets and i work a 3 on 3 off shift so would have noticed one eventually if there was one working the area. I've not even seen a card in the local shop windows advertising?
I currently clean my own windows, not very often... only when i cant see out  ;D (just kidding) and also clean for a couple of elderly neighbours for a few beer tokens.
So, i was thinking on my 3 days off maybe I should go around the area knocking on doors and seeing if i can drum up a bit of business. The estate is mainly 3 bed semi's and bungalows, worth a go for a newbie or do you think there is a reason why nobody seems to be working the patch already?

regards,
Gary.

Post it in the window cleaning section for a better result mate.

I'd say yes though, what have you got to lose?

Hi Gary, the obvious thing to do would be to canvass your area before buying any more equipment. If there is a lot of interest then you have a great start to the new venture. Window cleaning is funny, it can take a while to get going but then new customers begin to find you. They see you working or you do their Mum's/friends etc and before you know it you are busy most of the time.
The three on three off thing will fit in really well too.
