Repairing tear in carpet

Hey all this is gonna be a long shot for me but I've just had my carpet delivered by carpet right to find a boom mark in one of the ends (a tear the size of my thumb) now just incase I'm robbed off from carpet right I just wondered if anybody locally to me in Essex did those cookie cutter repairs or similar?? How much should it cost??

Unfortunately it's not in the waste area it's about 3 inches in from the wall and the needle and thread idea won't do anything the cut is missing a chunk of carpet a good inch by three

It's a DAMAGED on delivery item and should be exchanged for a perfect item under the Sale of Goods Act.

I would say if it was picked up by fork lift in warehouse it was this that damaged it ,see a lot of that when picking up carpets

Was it a remnant or did you by it off the roll?  If it was cut to size in the shop it should'nt have been on the boom of a fork lift. They only use those for lifting the full rolls at the ware house and with the card board roll in the center, if it did get a bang of the boom it would go right through it if they did'nt go in at the right angle. Get some spray glue off them, or copy dex or even if you know how to heat seam it? When your fitting it maybe flip it 180 if you cant get it out in the waste on way, may get it the other.  They would ofcourse be obliged to replace it but if you cut it you own it.

Thanks for all your replies, thankfully we went into carpet right this morning and got a full refund (was very worried as the sales staff really give two poops) but the manager was back off of holiday and sorted it.
We ended up going to a local company in Chelmsford call Country Flooring who had better quality carpet in stock. So had a new one delivered this afternoon and my mates just fitted it...

The damage on the other hand was from a forklift and to top it off was from an end of roll as there was a large pile line at the other end. The carpet in truth should never have been sent out in the first place and due to the location of the damage was too far in at either end from the excess to use...

Any all sorted now thank god as our furniture is being delivered tomorrow morning
