mop system for large open areas and girls can use
« on: October 22, 2011, 04:47:18 pm »
looking to get a new mopping system for large areas of wood and safety flooring that small girls can use fairly easy. we have used large kentucky mops which do a good job in good time but too heavy for the girls to deal with. we've also used microfibre mops which are good for the hard floors but do a terrible job on the safety floors.

wouild like suggestions for ones to look at and also where to buy them from.

What size of area is it.

A small scrubber dryer may be a faster and easier option.

not got exact sizes with me at the moment. a scrubber drier isn't an option as there too many items in the way, tables/chairs etc, and she'd probably be less able to deal with that any way. the kentucky mop did a good enough job it was just a lot of work for her to deal with.

we use a scrubber/drier every 6 months so the mop just needs to maintain it to a decent standard in betwee the deep cleans.

Have you looked at a rotowash/multiwash type machine.

Faster then mopping with better results and would remove the need for the periodic.

Mopping just spreads dirt IMO. Unless you have diligent staff who change their water frequently and use a twin bucket system.

Hi,
There is a new mopping system out that uses a sort of paper type mop. Very like the Kentucky but a lot lighter. I think Bunzl have them. I havent tried them just seen one of the kits at a site a while ago,
Cheers,

 Hi
what size kentuckys you using, 20 ounce are massive. we have recently switched to 12ounce still quicker than most other mops but lighter and dont tangle on chair legs etc.

Re: rotowash/multiwash - I've recently bought a multiwash, its a great bit of kit (though I bought it mainly for agitation), it is quite heavy though. I bought the 44cm model, which iirc weighs in at about 28kg, there are smaller models, but I wouldn't think that any of them would completely eliminate the need for mops unless all you cleaned were empty, square rooms.
