Varistream or not
« on: October 30, 2005, 09:54:14 pm »
I thought that a varistream controler was necessary piece of kit to protect pump and vary water flow. I have now found the following information on another site and dont want to fork out for something i dont need. I would be grateful for your opinions.
[Here is what we do.

On each each pole we fit a seperate pole flow control valve as found on our site www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk.

We use 'microbore' hose this helps regulate the end pressure to the pole head especially when using a 100psi pump. It also is lighter, kinks less and allows you to carry double on your reel.

The flow valve will help you to regulate your pressure whilst using your pole allowing you to fine tune for each window (whether up or down) also it allows you to turn it off when not in use. The flojet pumps are excellent and we have found work very well with just the flow control valves with no need at all for a varistream or similar controller. Some may say that this will put excess strain on your pump using a flow control valve but we have been using them this way for 5 years and the shortest time a pump has lasted was 3 years of constant use, our original 5 year old pump is still going strong! If you have a variflow or eco flow unit fitted you don't need to fine tune for each window the unit automatically does it for you.

also it allows you to turn it off when not in use

Use stop end connectors and disconnect the hose and the controller unit will turn the pump off.

And as david has said you have much better contol with the units and can save you huge ammounts of water.
