Got a job booked in for 1st thing in the morning, before I finish packing to go away on friday morning, and the clutch cable just snapped on the van! Why do these things happen at the worst possible times??

Ash,

Having just spent two days replacing master and slave cylinders on my clutch myself, you have my deepest sympathies.

Some bits were so inaccessible it was untrue. Labour charges at a garage would have run into several hundreds.

Had the RAC to recover it 500yds up the road as it wouldn't go off the starter (I had stopped right inbetween two small hills!!). Turns out it's the clutch pedal which has snapped, not the cable.

Re-arranged tomorrows job for the day after I come back (f*cked that up too, land in B'ham at 3am, job is on at 10am - I'm in South Wales valleys and the job is in Newport).

Oh well, as long as nothing goes wrong with the plane..
