Anyone sold their wc website?
« on: September 04, 2011, 12:05:50 am »
anyone before?
how many of you have a website and maintain it?
i'm going to sell my website which ranks number 1-3 on page 1 in google for some relevant keywords. Looks like google likes it, to be honest i spent quite a lot of time optimising it and run some adwords as well, Lately i'm not having much time for window cleaning pursuing other business opportunities, so it's time to move on...

A website is only worth what it brings in. What you do keeps it high and can be done with any site. To be honest i would say its not worth anything unless its a good name
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

I think the dot com bubble has long gone. Websites not worth a great deal.

Those value websites are a load of rubbish in my opinion. I've bought, developed and sold a few and their values are stupid. I've bought and sold websites between 1-3 years revenue, so if it makes cash then it would be somewhere there. That being said, if its clicks on local search terms its only worth anything if you can find a start up locally. Most people just compare what they could do with the money that is needed to buy it. For instance, if its £300, then would 10,000 leaflets be a better investment etc. I'd say it's not worth much personally.

there are websites and there are 'websites', if you kow what i mean...

you can't do with any site! seems to me you are not quite aware of how website optimising works. For example, you pay say £400 for Yell advertisement each year, with website you pay nothing if you rank high in the first page of google and if someone visits your website and make enquiries.  Now more people are using Google and other search engines to search for the products and services, probably you are one of them.
For example, during the spring i got £1000+ worth of work just from the conservatory roof cleaning jobs.
How many i got from Yell? nothing! I stopped using Yell from last year once established my website.

yes i am going to sell some of customers, i have some customers, mainly new ones since i sold my round.

i agree, they are rubbish, it's just my website is specific to one industry, better to sell in the industry marketplace.
Well the leaflet is one of thing whereas website stays there and it's on your business card and flyer.

websites are not expensive to run, i pick up around 30 new custys ever year from mine, and mines is crap lol but brings me in around £1600 a year , i would say if you where seling around, your website could ad a good few thousand for your sale of your round if you where selling up,

A website is an individual thing as it promotes you as business, if you have given up as wc then why do you want to carry on as if your name is worth anything like a franchise ?

Why not try to create a business that has real worth and leave well meaning ignorant law abiding citizens like myself alone ?

i already have a business with real worth, hence i'm going to sell my website  ;)
The trade name of the in the website can be changed, not the website name, it is more like a neutral, doesn't carry particular persons name etc.

Ahh so you have a generic name. That might help you. If it's optimised for a certain area then it might be good to contact local cleaners. A lot might be interested as it means one less competitor (i'd do a short sharp letter starting off with that!).

The problem you will have is trust. It's going to be hard to prove and persuade people that this site has in fact brought in the 1600 you say it has. It could have come from anywhere. It might be better if you can install something like Google Analytics so you can say  look 50 people alone clicked through on "window cleaning services in kent" last month, that's when I got 6 jobs (show them the jobs).

Still though...with actual rounds selling for 3-4 months, I think it might be hard. Not like an ecommerce site that sells for 3-4 years profit. let us know how you get on!

thought i didn't install the analytis code into it, just had look and i have it. Basically monthly visits are around 80-90 in summer, 120-140 during the spring. Unfortunately i'm turning down any new calls including big commercial calls  >:(
