Gutter clearing - whats the going rate?
« on: August 11, 2011, 10:05:16 pm »
Ok, looking to add this service and push it. I already clear gutters out, but its only by request (which i dont get alot of). The way i do it is ladder and my brother in law footing the ladder.

Am thinking of getting a gutter vac & genny from gutter cleaning systems and a couple of extra sections.

So whats the going rate for clearing out the inside of gutters only ?

2 bed
3 bed
4 bed

yes some will be terrace style / semi / detatched, but what would your min to max be ?

Am thinking of getting a load of leaflets printed and delivering them to large estates

Your thoughts please

you need to take other things into account - any1 can do 'standard' houses with access and prices for these are generally lower as there will always be a 'suicidal sid' willing to work off a ladder for beer money

however those with dormers/conny's and anything else that stops ladder access can be done at decent price.

time wise a 3 sided semi takes around 25 mins to clear (inc unpack/pack) - if heavily overgrown 1/2 hr - depends on your vac
and access

I would test the market with price. If you get every quote put the price up for the next one, then repeat until you get 60% of quotes.

Plus as smudger says look for difficult access houses with gutter vac. Get some cards made to post through the door.

Plus have a minimum rate like we do for window cleaning.

Don't forget they don't pay for OUR TIME, rather they pay for the VALUE of having the job done.

I think a minimum of £50 is reasonable if you use a gutter vac, maybe less for ladder users.

3 bed terraced house front and back £30 only takes half hour.

If you get more then you can do nearly 3 in an hour.
