Quote for a "builder's clean" on a commercial property
« on: August 04, 2011, 05:40:46 pm »
I've not been going very long and I'm just a one man operation doing all traditional domestic stuff at the moment. Out of the blue I've had the chance to quote for a one off clean after building work on a new shop front. There is about 30m of front (ground floor only) and as far as I can tell it is just going to be standard big pains of glass and a door. I don't have much confidence in pricing this at all.

* How much do people normally charge per big shop window, say 2m x 3m or 2m by 3m about £3?
* How is this affected by being a "builder's clean"- not at all, more?
* Would this normally include inside as well?
I know I can ask and I will but would the insides normally be someone else's job after building work?
* I would normally charge about the same again for doing inside a house, does this still hold true for this situation?

Thanks.

can you work out how long it would take if it was just a normal clean??

is so times that time by 3 or 4 times more mate.

im must see you need some basic experience on these type of jobs - builders can make a right mess on glass.

you can find yourself removing glue, tape and concrete off the glass and frames!!

if its new glass and frames then the last thing you want to do is scratch anything up mate.

price anything on time and stick to what you want to earn per hour (say £30 per hr just for an example)

I did a new house clean recently just after the builders. Its was a real pain to start with.
The stickers where so hard to get off it was taking ages on each pain. The scraper just moved the glue around the glass rather than remove it.
In the end i got desperate and drove to Halfords and got some celulose thinners. It work like a charm. one cloth on, another to remove as much as possible then a normal clean. it saved me about 2 hours i recon.

many years ago I learnt to just say no to builders cleans, done loads of them all a nightmare.

there are 2 types of money

easy money

hard money

stick to the easy kind!

Do you mean your daily rate is £300 or will you go home afterwards?
