Trafic/Vivaro/Primastar

Hi guys, thinking of changing my van but cant remember what year they started making "good" ones, ie no gearbox problems etc...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-TRAFIC-SL29-DCI-100-SWB-06-REG-94K-DIRECT-CHUBB-/330560397145?pt=UK_Commercial_Trucks&hash=item4cf6ef5f59

Is this about the right price?

What sort of mpg do they do? Do they have trip computers to show mpg?

Cheers

Its the ones with the 6speed box that are the worst,i used to work at a clutch an gearbox centre and did loads of em,expensive aswell as theyre so awkward to get the box out.

I've got an 04 Vivaro, well its actually an 05 as registered first part of 05. But had the 04 plate. if that makes any sense.

had it two years now. Not been too bad. I had a glow plug go on me. Apart from that its been fine.

Its a five speed box, I am sure I will get some problems down the line somewhere.

Well I've sdeen it quoted as after 55 plate and after 06 plate so don't know which (if either).

If anyone has an older model, maybe look around for a vehicle engineering place locally.  Instead of paying £3k+ for a new box, it may be possible to get the relevant part sorted for £800 - £1k.  This is because the box problems are often caused by water getting in underneath and corroding a bearing on the gear selection mechanism.  If this is the issue, this work can be done more cheaply than by buying a new box.

my local vauxhall garage do them  brand new and they do 4 years warranty 4 years o percent finance, 4 years free servicing and 4 year breakdown

i'd buy new and get shot after the warranty runs out there a money pit cost a fortune in repairs
