Tricky customer before I even start
« on: June 08, 2011, 09:33:00 pm »
Received a message the other day from a potential custy asking us to visit her on a specific date when she's in.  Called her back and left a message.

She left us a message today during the day.  Quite rambling, she complained that the phone wasn't being answered and she doesn't know our opening hours and if we don't call back she's going to have to find someone else.

What do you think?

;D let her find someone else, had one like that last week, then he announced he had various quotes and it was a one off, I asked how much he had been quoted and told him they were good quotes and I would be double that amount and couldn't fit him for a few weeks. someone elses problem now and I have no stress :)

In my experience they defo sound like a nut job  :o , not worth the hassle in the long run (or short run in this case probably. Avoid, why give yourself stress   ;D

Yeh, I'd seriously consider just not bothering with them.  They sound like they want to 'employ' you, not contract a self-employed tradesman.

People seem to forget that we're not plumbers charging £3K for a job (unless it is a £3K job then jump through some hoops) and expect you to jump through hoops for them.

I wonder why she doesn't have a windy at the moment.

I had one last week:

"How much to clean my front windows only?" - (No location, number of windows, access issues etc.
"I'd have to give you a quote"
"Ok when?"
"Tomorrow after 10am"
"Fine, see you then"

I arrive 'tomorrow" at 10:36am.
"Oh we didn't think you were coming." - Strike 1
"It's a bit difficult as we have people here." - Strike 2
"How do you get the hose through the house to clean the back windows?" - Strike 3

1 minute = fastest loss of customer ever.
I passed them over to my mate - couldn't be done with the hassle.

Thought you might like to hear the outcome:

Finished her clean.

"That's perfect, thanks.  Now I've seen your work's good, can you do numbers 22,24 and 26 as well, please?  Here's the cash for the lot". They are all old dears and she looks after them.

I did them all the next day.  Whil I was doing number 26, the guy from 22 came out and said "I like your work, so can you pop along and do number 18 as well, please?"

So the moral is: Never assume the worst.

I have thrown a couple of hissy fits over the years which were indeed very gratifying, however im more for saying nothing until a small easily solved problem (should i grow some balls and speak up) becomes a festering growth until i can take no more and unleash on the totally unsuspecting custard!

Nope, all small detached at £18 every six weeks.  So a quick £720 on my annual turnover!
