What price for a conservatory
« on: May 25, 2011, 11:28:25 pm »
Guys,

Hoping someone can give us a bit of advice on a conservatory job I have been asked to give a price for. I have done a few small upvc ones with polycarb roofs since I started up in January and felt like I have completely under priced them.

Truth be told I'd rather just stick with windows, but I want to be competitive and feel like I need to offer these additional services to customers.

Anyway the customer tells me their conservatory is wooden frame, 22ft x 8ft, accessible from all sides and has a glass roof. As well as the conservatory being cleaned inside and out they have also said how they'd like the guttering on the conservatory cleaned out.

I really dont know how long something like this would take me. I use traditional methods, so anticipate it taking a fair while.

Any ideas on pricing would be appreciated.  :)

if your trad i wouldnt bother mate unless you are desperate for work.you ll make a mess of it and itll take you ages to clean it.

1.i wouldnt bother with gutter clearing on the conny.dirty messy job!

2.using trad to clean a conny roof is a no no!you ll do a crap job and your blood pressure will go through the roof!

3.if they want the inside of the conny roof cleaning.dont bother as it will also be a right royal pain in the bum!!

so for me id wfp the roof and maybe blade it with a squeegee on a trad pole if i think it might spot(because of wooden frames)

inside windows if they move all crap off the window ledges and all outside windows, frames, ledges.

cant give you a price as i would have to see how dirty it was.

price higher/work harder!

I agree, not worth the hassle trad.

Your best bet might be to find a local guy that does this type of job, who you can pass the work onto, at a small commission for each job.

If i was you i would buy a cheap wfp pole with hose and brush and scrub it clean off the tap then tidy up with your squeegee after.. As above this will cause you alsorts of probs without active running water going on it.. Believe or not i no some guy who cleans windows like this with his brother as they dont drive..

i agree with daz, except for the bit where he said cleaning the roof is a no no,as iv done plenty trad with brush and long pole and make a good job  obviously still harder than wfp but if priced right still makes a good wage, but as for inside cleaning done that once (pain in the arse), gutters are always full of water and slimey stuff so you really need a gutter vac for them
