I was so so close to buying one of those last week.

What stopped me - I went to take a machine in for service and I mentioned it to the service guy.

They apparently have a load of problems and he said you may well be replacing a lot of parts on it!!!

Basically got told to leave well alone!!

You're better off powering a burner separately from a small generator.

We have one of those and it is a good bit of kit! We also have a burner which is great but the HDS gives you high pressure steam where as our burner is low pressure steam due to having to turn the flow/pressure down to allow the burner to heat the water up!!! I hope this isn't me just being simple

Yeah, ive got my burner running of a small built in gennie incorporated in my setup..also gives me some extra 110v outputs for stuff 

Ididnt think they would be too unreliable....but when ya buy stuff second hand, i guess its luck of the draw, specially from ebay...i jst thought it was a cheap price..

Alan, thats odd, cause i can run my machine at full pressure and get hotwater...you should look into with your machine, might just be a matter of a different flow switch or something simple.

I am interested to know what running times you are using on the Karcher machines. Have you used it for several days at a time or is it more every now and then for a few hours.

My usage would be ten hours per day x 6 days per week - Is the machine up to it and possibly my service mans response took that into consideration!

I run a lombardini setup..proper diesel engined with belt driven pump..Its the first time ive used a engine powered washer as when i worked in london, the company ALWAYS used the karcher HDS hot water electric machines...and going from the way they always used to break down, id say that they arent made for the long days..

But im not sure about the engine driven karchers, But the lombardni seems to be built pretty tough, just cant find any parts!

To be honest i have only used it for 2 jobs but 1 of those was a weeks worth of stripping a sealed swimming pool surround and it seemed to be ok, but at the moment it is taking up space!! All of our other work we use our Hondas and the hot box

Thanks for that I don't use a great deal of heat - other than the dry steam machines, for chewing gum removal but I can see an application wjhere it would be useful.

If I want to clean gum & pressure wash at the same time I would use my hotbox set up as well. Interesting to get a different view!!
