Vacuum motor brushes

Anyone ever changed the vac brushes in a Numatic vacuum cleaner....its a 3 year old NVQ 382 but hasn't done much work at all really. I think its the vac brushes anyway it slowed right down this morning and gave off a very slight burning smell....any advice thanks  ???
