 Hi All

 i am having a few upvc cleans come in. i thought it was a good time to check we are usiing the best methods.

 If its just the black dust from road traffic and cobwebs we just wfp them well i love these cos its dead easy and the effect is good.

 I f its more than that and more of a restoration we use a cladding brush to rub in tfr then pressure wash off maybe rinse with wfp as well if required.

 any improvements on this or tips?

results wise by hand comes up great as you can get in those annoying bits ...

of course safe and speed wise wfp with customers outside tap works really well!

i never used tfr on any jobs as yet, willl still get roughly the same results with or without a chemical.

any chemical will help with speed ... think ive just been lucky so far and my customers dont let them get so dirty ...

Asked the same question myself not long ago, but wash up liquid and water does as good a job for me. Window frames/ sills that are badly discoloured try cif (you and I probably remember it as jiff)  brings them up a treat. We hand clean off ladders as u can get in the fiddly bits around the brackets and use a pole on side verges for speed where there are no gutters and often ladder access is harder a that height. I think your doing right investigating the best/ quickest way because there is good money to be made at it.

For real bad ones try Siroflex Solvent Cleaner or just a damp Magic Eraser. Worst of the worst then combine the two. Gloves a must if doing for any length of time.

depends of the customer requirements..


general w/c clean is either straightforward wfp or if its really bad then non caustic TFR and wfp - both charged at 1st clean price which is 2x normal 4 wky.

if custy wants restoration ie...  paint spots, silicone removal, whiteness restored etc...  it's done by hand and charged as a builders clean rate/time

 I of course agree you cant beat getting up there and rubbing. i know one guy goes over everything with cream cleanser and then again to clean off and buff up .

 its down to pricing. i would have thought its a long morning if not most of a day to clean a whole house by hand so what do you charge for a three bed semi on that basis.

doing by hand give the best result i feel if you are fussy,if you not to worried then wfp.

i charge from £70+ for a 3 bed-semi,which i can do most times of ladder in under 2hrs.

but the price normally goes up if they are really dirt.
