Screaming Hoses
« on: February 10, 2011, 10:37:37 pm »
Hi all iv'e had hoses that if left long enough with the vac motors running will emit a high pitched screaming sound but my 7.5m CFR hose does it the instant the vac's are turned on and its really 'F' ing loud. is there any known remedy other than replacing or throwing on the bonfire ?

It sounds like you have air being drawn through a hole or seal somewhere.

I had this with a bust vac seal and it stopped once the seal was renewed. You may have a hole or holes in the vac hoses.

if this is the very flexible hose, i think it's
called Supaflex, this is something they do when
they are dry inside. I used it about 10 years ago
and if you stop wanding, it gradually starts to get
louder. There is no solution it's the design internally.

Bypass wand? Crack it open a touch just to keep hose wet?

Ajb is right on the flexible hoses as they get dry and dont half make a scream..I used to try n keep some water going through sometimes to cut the noise out.
