I've bought a round and will be starting full time very soon, i believe I clean windows well although some times i wonder if i'm being overly fussy and maybe just a couple of minutues too slow. what do you think the acceptable standard is to leave someones windows frames and sills in?

do the best you can. you will get better and faster over time. its taken me 17 years now changed to wfp

I have always no matter what job i have done set myself a standard.
The way i look at it is if i am paying for something and been told what i will get for the price i expect that.
If you work on the guide of "Would i (You) except the finished job" Simple Yes or No answer.
Everyone has different opinions and looks at thing s differently to others. Only you know what sort of standard you expect to give.
I think the same as you everyday "am i going over the top with these windows?" but i have had recomendations from customers and also find you do not have to put so much effort into the next clean so it's quicker and easier.

Not sure i have worded this correctly but i hope you can get the drift of what i do.

I have not been a wc for very long and still only do saturdays and the odd haf day here and there as i try and build my round for next year.
I try and leave the windows as perfect as possible and although i takes me ages to clean windows i know i will get quicker and quicker, so far though most of my work has come from word of mouth due to my high standards.
If i would not be pleased with the job then i dont expect my customers will either.
Do the best job possible and you will soon build a very good reputation.

I also use wfp as well as ladders.
I didn't bother telling any of my customers about spotting or runs. I thought if i told them about it they will start looking to close once i had finished.
Some took some convincing about leaving the windows wet, but i told them i would come back and do them again if there were any probs.
I noticed some spotting when i first started using wfp but left it to see what people would say. They were only small spots and you couldn't really see them unless you went really close up.
No one said a thing when i went back to collect my money. If anything they couldn't believe how clean the windows looked.
I tell all my new customers now about the pole but never about spotting or runs.
Now i seem to have the hang of wfp i don't bother looking anymore. I think it's just down to confidence.

I always think along these lines would I pay someone to clean my windows to this standard[in my case yes and give me a tip]

  I have got into a bad habit of over cleaning with my pole and have consequently had problems with spots and runs as I have been giving it too much around the top of the frame. I am now making sure I stay away from the top frames and everything should be OK again.

Im the opposite i had a few problems the first week i changed to WFP as i did not rinse the top frame enough.
Now 6 months on no problems at all not even on new cleans and i alway clean the top frame.

I went back to a house today which was the 2nd clean with wfp.
As i had spent a bit longer than i really should have making sure the frames especially the top was well cleaned, this clean didn't even take me half the time.
Just make sure the top of frame is clean and you shouldn't have any probs.
I also find that if you rinse the glass you have just cleaned straight away it cuts down the chance of spots.
I was cleaning all the glass in one frame then rinsing but found spotting later on when i checked. So i now clean one pane then rinse.

ive cleaned windows for over 25 years.never lost a customer to a bad job.

Set your standerds high, and maintain them. Ive allways taken pride in any job ive done.The times ive been told by customers im the best wc they have ever had.

I once did a builders clean in & out at an hotel, the manager spent 30 mins looking at one big window i had cleaned with the sun shinning through.

I asked if everything was all right. his reply:- I am convinced their is no glass in that window frame,their more i look the more certain i become.

My reply:- At this rate you will have a very draughty hotel.

Set your standards and be proud.My only worry is I'm just moving to the wfp system
and I hope I can maintain the same high standerd of work.
