I have been following all the different threads about hot systems and can't decide which way to go, I am wanting a hot system to go in the back of a navara pickup with a hard top on. I use an oil filled rad at the moment to stop the freeze but dont like running a power lead from the house.

At the moment I have a diy system with a 175L flat tank. the way I see it is I have 4 choices

1. go for a 'proper' system from ionics, but do they do one for a pick-up

2. go the immersion route - can I do it in a flat tank? (i could change the tank but there's the power lead again)

3. L5 - but what about frost protection?

4. stop working, go on benefits, sell weed, get a hot bmw instead of a hot wfp  :)

I have some money aside, so wouldn't be totally against spending a couple of grand on the posh ones, but like I said I have diy at the moment so i'm not anti diy either if its a more sensible option, obviously I would like to spend as little as possible but still want a reliable system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated especially from people with pick-up systems.

cheers

An immersion will get 175L hot. And quickly too.

It takes about 2-3 hours to get our 750L tanks warm, although circulation is an issue.

I am pretty sure Ionics will do a hot system that will fit in your Japanese 4x4. They said they could do one for my Defender.

Dunno for sure mate.

I don't really think the immersion heater is a hot water system. I intend to use mine for frost protection only.
