I arrive have a look around,dirty windows..Great.WORK. Asked questions.Turn up for job and discover paint, a lot of licks and varnish left from sloppy reno work done years before.I did ask if they had windows cleaned before, and yes was the reply.SO i gave a quote to clean windows as i see it, a 5 hour estimate. It took 6,To remove all the excess i came across would have taken 8.I explained the situation to the home owner and they were'nt fussed.BUT I DID SAY I WOULD CLEAN THE WINDOWS... Any words from the experienced would be appreciated.cheers

Always ask what they are expecting you to achieve before guving a price and starting work. That could have easiy bitten you on the rear end.

he is just basically saying he quoted the job over the phone,got there the job was worse than he thought,cleaned windows but hasnt scraped all the varnish or whatever from the glass,customer was happy with job,just wants some advice for jobs like this in the future but matt has said dont quote over the phone

i think its windies that are bothered about paint on glass. not once has a customer ever mentioned it, though i usually scrape it off  and dont mention it

Personally I do not touch paint or varnish on glass...unless I get a waiver signed from customer.

For some it's ok but I do not.
