« on: November 25, 2010, 06:32:05 pm »
Booked an ad in the book back in MAY , full colour half page. Book came through the door this afternoon .

No ad , straight on the phone , oh our mistake she says , sorry , spoke to manager , offered me  free Yell.com all year ,( to me thats worth nothing). Half price ad next year , what would you accept?

Full page ad next year, free sponsored listing on Yell (even with that responce will be next to nothing).

Their incompetence is beyond a joke.

Oh dear.

I have just signed up only today for a mediumweight Yell.com ad for £570 per year.

This is not really what I wanted to hear! ::)

so how can anything you get from them be free, i'd get my money back and get them to list you on yell for free, then explain to them that if i'm (meaning you jason) still in business in a years time i want a half page for free in the next edition. all though really that should read, if your (yellow pages) still in business in a years time. ;D

On the threat of "I'm going to rubbish you on every trade forum I can find" I'd want all the money back within 7 days and some form of compensation in the form of free advertising (yell.com) and an agreed reduced price on next years edition.
You're in the driving seat here especially if you play on the 'This ad was important to me with the economic climate as it is.'

On the plus side at least they didn't publish the ad with a wrong phone number or something, because that would be critical, and I've read about that happening before.

Are you not on Yell then Ian?
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Jason,

I would expect anyone who says they are going to do something and has taken money on that basis to do it, but as you know that doesn't always happen.

You must have a contract with Yell?

We had about 4 mistakes in 5 years with yellow pages, so we sign up and cancel the direct debit before any money is taken, then you have some negotiation, with nothing paid

I never pay till the ad is out. I pay it as a lump sum about a grands worth.

p.s. there shouldn't be any mistakes in the advert. You get proofs sent to you t check over before it goes out.

guys

No i not with yell I have found other trusted sites for google.

As far as whats a trusted site. google is looking for real human verification like for example your adword account, or a comment from a customer on a site it trusts. google does not want to use its own resources checking up if your a spammer or real person so it taken to using other trusted sites. this all relates to goole maps.

Idealrob.... you mean they got it right once, you did well

Tony, I have approved proofs here and they still put in adifferent ad.

Jason, if you don't want the Yell ad get your money back now.You can use it more productively elsewhere and why should the have it for a year?

BTW Everyone knows they are rubbish and they know everyone knows but I would still go along with Neils idea
