3 new wcs starting up every few months.
« on: November 17, 2010, 02:04:16 pm »
I've had two of my custies say to me this week that since my last visit theyve had 3 leaflets offering window cleaning cheaper than me. I did make it clear to them though that its up to them who they employ but stressed that reliability, good service and trust are things to take into consideration when deciding on employing someone.

what do people expect,  wc is cheap to start,  cash on the day,  and half the time they are signing on,  a lot get in this business because they have a wc who charges say £10 for 10 minutes work  and the custy thinks i can do that, get made unemployed and starts a wc round,   they come on the likes of here and read about £30ph

i love it when newbies start,  get to know them as when they jack it in buy thre round of them

Always get your custy to ask 'em to see a copy of their p/l insurance and if they are coherent enough to ask if they work in line with current H&S guidelines. After all your custy wouldn't want to be sued for allowing some johnny-come-lately on his property and injuring himself when he knows there are safer methods out there, would he?!  ;)
It's a game of three halves!

I did tell them about a story I read in the paper last week which involved canvassers asking people for their phone numbers for whatever service they were offering including wc's. But they wud then ring custies at random to check if they were in or not. Well some of the ones that were out got burgled. So I'm hoping that this has put their minds at rest by still employing me. ;D

LOL, only 3 new window cleaners starting up every few months, you’re lucky, must be very remote where you are.

I read its 70-100, each month in England alone

have you ever thought of starting up yourself ?  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Has the law changed on this then? It used to be that the injured party could only claim if he was working on a commercial property. Commercial are bound by law to ensure a safe working environment for anyone doing work on their premises.
Domestic customers are not bound by law to do this, so unless the accident was directly down to negligence by the householder, you can't sue them.
