Did a job today. It was a Pakistan wool rug. The lady bought it from a big store ( not a rug specialist). The advice she was given was......" because its a handmade rug dont use water on it at all,  not even a wipe up of a spill, and certainly dont have it wet cleaned as it will disintegrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ". Does the shop know something I been missing over the last 11yrs of cleaning rugs   lol

Mark, we clean with Wizard's spells and fairy dust


Chris, if it's a genuine hand knotted Pakistani rug, it could be a Peshawar, in which case it will be tea-washed.  Cleaning is almost certain to lighten it  to some degree, especially strong spotters in localised areas.

Disintegrate??  Funny

How did you clean it ?   

Bad advise from a big store.

If the same advise would of come from a rug specialist shop[not all of them] there could be some
underlying problems covered up with a tea-wash or painted as Jim stated.

Disintegrate 

Sounds like the shop knows very little.

You should pay them a visit,and educate them with your 11 years experince.

It was about 6 X 4 very dark reds with a short fringe. Wasnt very dirty so probably wont see that much difference. They payed £400 about 6yrs ago.
