deodorizer for flooded carpets
« on: September 16, 2005, 09:24:42 pm »
Hi, can anyone recommend a quality deodorizer that can kill the musty smell, for instance in a office ( stuck down cord no underlay) that won't leave the staff choking?   ???

Cheers Paul

Deodorisation will only work while the carpet is wet,a bit like a perfume works to make your Missus smell nice is will ware off. If you have a flooded carpet you needed sanitization to kill of bacteria and that is only the start of it.

You need someone more qualified than me to tell you what products and procedures to use.

If the carpets been wet for a number of days there may be a build up of mould in the fibres. Also bacterial growth caused by the dirt and debris in the carpet will be causing odour. Carpet needs to be cleaned and an anti microbial applied. Chemspec do an excellent one called Ultra Fresh.
Problem is, if the underlying floor slab is wet, this moisture is permeating through the carpet until it dries out causing an ongoing problem. If the area involved is not too large a couple of air movers may be adequate to dry out. Or it may also need dehumidification and someone who knows how to use it.

Prochem’s Microsan Depending where do you live in North Kent, check your yellow pages for there agents,

If in my neck of the woods, Crystal cleaning supplies north Cray 020 309 0237, martin vitera welling 020 8301558, or my favourite LCS brownhill road Catford 020 8697 3444 (mention my name you will get the same discount as I do and it’s not the standard 10%)
