Yet another question that's no doubt been covered lots of times. How much extra for a first time clean on average? Thanks.

i always charge extra for the  first clean,  no one has ever refuse the extra charge yet, if you explain the reason why you are charging more, they will understand, knowing  the price will drop down afterwards, dont give yourself any harder work than you need,

If they are just starting up the offering the 1st clean free is not such a bad thing as long as they become regular.

I disagree,

if it is a £10 job then i will charge £13 ,if it is a £20 job then  £25 and so on ,dont rip them off you will earn out of them in the long run ,IN MY OPINION charging customer double is taking the pxxx you are not there double the time are you and if you are you should think about jacking it in

I find that a strange way of looking at it. We used to charge about 30% more for a first clean, now we charge double. It can take 3 times longer to clean first time round, but I think double is a good price.

If you had a full round with more custies than you could handle, would you still clean for a standard price for first cleans? No you wouldn't. So why do it now.

I sometimes charge 50% extra for a first clean.  Sometimes i don't though.  Much depends on job size, how much I want the job, whether I sense that the job will be a one off but the customer is saying otherwise (I do sometimes get this wrong), or how much I want to convert the enquiry into a regular customer.  I've worked so hard recently, I see a small gap opening up in the next week or two.  I will go canvassing.  If I'm wanting to get a few jobs for the following day or three I will probably do it standard rate just to ensure a bit of cashflow.
