any gutter vac tips?
« on: October 07, 2010, 06:44:26 pm »
basically that. Did my first jobs today with a poplar vak and ended up just climbing the ladder and vacuuming them. Found holding up the pole really awkward and couldnt get the nozzle to stay in the gutters. I hope its technique that will come in time. Also rather heavy i thought. ???

As with Trad or WFP   gutter vac'ing takes practice

cant speak for the polar but we can really motor along with the Omni vac - been doing gutters for just over a year now

same here with the Omni-vac   some jobs are just a breeze with it

what I do when finished is fill a bucket up with pure water and vac it up as it helps keep the vac hose clean.

To save using the ladder, I use a bicycle mirror from halfords fitted to an end cone which then attaches to a harris pole (if that makes any sense) allows me to check before and after vaccing.

I don't gutter clean yet although reading all this to learn.
If you need to lift pipe 1 inch from base of gutter you could jubilee clip a 4inch nail or screw both upside down to the nozzle and then rest the head of the nail on the gutter base. this would mean not having to support the pole in a permanent hovering position. Also the head rubbing through the crap would lift split the solid deposits.

There's a new company phrase!

Rake and Vac!

How about a song and a scantily clad girlie jiggling the pole about?

"Do the Rake and Vac
and put the freshness back!

The Rake and Vac
is what you lack

Do the Rake and Vac
and fill a sack

Do the Rake and Vac
and put the freshness back!"

Now where have I heard something like this somewhere before?  ;D
It's a game of three halves!
