Trolley and tanks in car !
« on: October 05, 2010, 10:11:36 pm »
It is hard work filling barrels and lugging about using a trolley !        Does anyone have a water tank in their car ?          I have a big estate and am thinking of getting a 200 ltr tank and just filling with pure water and then just topping up trolley from car .

Am I mad or do others do this ?

I do have a 250 baffle tank linked too a trolley and i use mostly like a van system and occassionally fill small barrels where the house is down a footpath and there isnt a road to take the vehicle down. So best to use just trolley with the small barrels, I think its more easy than having a back pack.  But everyone to there own way. :)

If you think it would work better then go for it!
Obviously check that your estate can handle the weight legally.
The pen is mightier than the sword (and a lot easier to write with!)

RIGHT IDEA JUST ADD PUMP AND HOSEREEL! I DEFINATELY DO NOT MISS LUGGING BARRELS AROUND.
WE CLEAN BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT WITH WATER FED POLE WHEN WORKING AT HEIGHT.

25kg, I too do not see the problem, had a guy at windex telling me you'd have to be a weight lifter to get a container into our trolley. Stood at my stand for about an out studying it!.

Well you need to care of your back, and in my opinion lugging barrels around at 25kg a shot will have a bad effect on your back later on !

Just trying to find an easier and more efficient way of using trolley system out of a car  ;D

Bend in the correct way, and use arms as apposed to back.

i love my 50L TROLLEY and im so glad i didnt listen to some on here who insisted i get a backpack or a van mount!

its perfect for a lot of my very compact domestic and i leave it in the van as a mini van mount when its a big stand alone account.best of both worlds!

i am careful when lifting the trolley in and out of the van and always bend my knees.the barrels keep me fit and strong!! :P :P ;D ;D ;D ;D

HI, i have a tank system in my estate. its probably 150 litres with a self made trigger device it will last maybe 4hrs of houses and 100m hose and modified hose reel. its all built into a tray, works perfectly and can be whipped out in no time at all. Will be selling it all end of december if anyone interested?!

yep it's the barrels that are my key to keeping fit where it used to be going up and down these god damn ladders in the past.

I got rid of the van about 6 months ago and built a trailer. the job has become so much easier. My trolley can carry 2x 25 liter containers, and I can wheel it up the ramp so no more lifting, I do have to change containers of course, but don't have a problem with that.
10 containers will get me through a heavy days work on compact houses.
The 30 meter hose reel that's mounted on the trolley is what makes it so much easier, I never have to take the trolley round the back.
I really couldn't be doing with moving the van every 15 minutes, only to have to move it again when in the middle of a job because someone want to get in or out of their drive.
Using the car means only using one vehicle, one tax and insurance, one MOT.
The only down side is that I no longer have my belt and braces, if the car is off the road for any reason I couldn't work, when I had the van, I had the car as a back up.
A van mount would not be suitable for most of my work.

Swapped a van mount system about 2 mths ago for a trolley, faster easier less messing for 95% of the time , for busy days / big jobs i do need to go home to refill around dinner time , as my work is local it's no real mither. As for the 25lt tubs , i'm a little fella and have no problem, although i do lift from the knees and keep my back straight so i'm not knackered later in life.
Really though you get used to your system and do the best you can with what you've got, i'm happy .
dont look who's to blame, look how to fix it. anon

i changed from a van system to a freedom trolley a couple of years ago, it fit the job better for me i have it as quick connection to a tank or undo and its a trolley again, this way i get the best of both worlds, also still have odd use for my old backpack here an there, if you are mainly domestic with light commercial jobs then have in the best of both will be better than stuck with one style of system, as for starter system the trolley also is best option as you grow the trolley can grow with you say into a van system there is no other good place to start than the freedom trolley, unless your name is squeaky tight :-*

lovewindows how many barrels can you fit in back of van?

i carry 10-12 and i can honestly say ive never ran out of water even on busy long days with a few commercial thrown in!i have flowcontroller on 60 most of the time and use a pole tap.i do trad the odd ground floor windows if their in bad condition or oxidised though.

before i went wfp i was worried that 300L wouldnt be enough water in my small van(kangoo)but i find its plenty for a full days work!

im well happy with my trolley/wfp and im burning through my work like i could of only dreamt about when trad only ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
