maybe not a new start but someone that worked from his car and started reading forums and bought a shiny van. I seen a new firm near me with nice van all sign written but it turned out to be the guy i had previously seen for years before working from his car

LOL @ Stu

It is summer after all, we know there's the summer brigade that come out this time off the year and hibernate come October.

Thinking about it, alot of businesses went bust last year, and a certain percent of the guys who were made redundant, decided to become window cleaners as its a safe job. they could of started in March this year, as they gain more work they become more visible to us veterans, as they are out cleaning more.
We've seen more and more guys around here in Essex, but it hasn't hampered us getting new customers, only this week we have picked up and cleaned several customers this week, we also have several new cleans to do in a weeks time.

Could be but this had a reach and wash logo on the side and I tend to associate the company who owns this trademark with new starts and window cleaning virgins. Anyway, I didn't recognise the guy and he was in a road I clean a lot.

I got a call from an American lady from a parish mag for a quote,   the day before the arranged date of the quote she called me again to say un beknown to her  her hubby had aready booked a guy who said he was doing window cleaning for the summer.

she said she may still call me in the coming months  ???

I just said no probs as whats the point of telling her to shove it,  I don't let things like that bother me and if she calls back yes I will still go and give a quote

in a way all newbie window cleaners are like wasps  ;D ;D ;D   plenty of them in the summer but get a bad winter and they all die off  ;D ;D

I too have noticed lots of new wcs popping up here and there. That's life I suppose. As long as your own business in in order and new custies keep coming in then why worry.

Their biggest problem would be canvassing.

Don't worry about how many other w/c's there are. Concentrate on your own business and provide a good service. As long as you do that, 99% of customers will not have a reason to find a new window cleaner.

I like to think that competition keeps you on your toes and stops you from becoming complacent.

All it means is by november all these customers will realise there windys not coming back and will be looking for a proper full time firm, so i just like to think of them as keeping the windows clean until i get them! i always pick good work up in the winter, the  custards know youre reliable if you come out in all weathers
