right just got my set up done major concern the amount of waste would it work if i put waste pipe back on to pipe before it goes in ro would it work ? what problems could it cause ? after ro 4040 it goes to di then tank

The waste water washes away the impurities that collect on the surface of the membrane.  Unless you allow the waste to carry the impurities away to drain, they will very soon clog up your membrane and render it useless.

ok how about this idea connect waste into pure water outlet on ro then strait in to di then tank that would then take abit of impurities out of water and let the resin do the rest

It's the same waste product has to go down the drain.

The only way to reduce the waste is to pump the intake water to a good presure this will:

1.  Reduce the waste
2.  Reduce the TDS of the RO output pure.
3.  Increase the amount of pure produced

Yes, water the garden or flush your toilet with it. Any attempt to purify it would make it too  expensive to be worthwhile.

The Ionics Pro6 system has a recycle set up on it with an additional filter, personnally I think it's not worth the hassle.

A good set up will give 1:1 pure to waste water ratio, though some systems will only give 1:6 pure to waste ratio which would be a worry

i disagree ,

as long as you change your 5 micron filter regularly

you should be able to recycle your waste no probs

i have done it for 2 years with rain water

works for me

I have a recycle set up where some of the waste goes to the ro again an the rest down the drain.  The more you feed back into the ro the higher the tds on the pure.  You will always need some waste to go to the drain or the membrane will die.

i collect water off the roof of my house and garage, this feeds into an ibc.

i have concrete tile on roofs which means , that depending on how heavy the rain is and the 

frequency ,gives me a tds sometime higher than i would like hence the ro

i then pump 1st ibc into a 2nd ibc and put the waste pipe back into the first

except when i flush ro

now i know i could go just di , but i already had an ro ,

so might as well use it 

now and again i have to connect it up to the mains water when i run low

ahh the joys of being on a water meter

Get another 4040 filter,twin 4040 systems produce pure water quicker with less waste

its called a "RO-bak" filter. reports i've heard are that its costly, problematic & requires frequent replacement.

What you can do is fit your membranes in parallel to reduce wast water. For example on a 300gpd unit with 3 membranes, the wast from the first membrane goes into the inlet of the second,.. the wast from the 2nd membrane goes into the inlet of the 3rd. RO man recommend only doing this with 3 membranes, but I know of a supplier who has 5 membranes on a pumped system setup like this and was getting near 70% pure.

Obviously doing this you'll find that the membranes at the end of the line die first,.. but if you flush regularly (get an auto flush unit!) and make sure your pre-filters are changed when they should be, its still a very economical way to run. 100gpd or 150gpd membranes are cheap enough anyway!

i have an exstended pipe on the waste and move it around the garden and water everything. never need a sprinkler or hose pipe
