cleaning canvas awnings WFP
« on: May 21, 2010, 01:57:53 pm »
Has anyone cleaned one of these ?
I have been asked to quote for one and have no idea  ???
Would it clean up with wfp because if it needs any other method i won't clean it.
What sort of hrs does it take to clean up, mainly dustydirt with the odd bit of Bird Cr*p .( about 15ft long red in colour.)

Ideas please.
regards

I have cleaned a few.
If you mean by canvass, a fabric type awning? I normally put some washing up liquid in a bucket of warm water, dip the brush in the bucket and scrub the awning then rinse off with a hose attached to the customers tap. They always come up well, but depends on how old the awning is, as the older ones suffer from sun bleaching.

I would do the same accept I would brush off as much on a dry canvass or PVC as possible because when you add water to the job it can ingrain the dirt.

Did one of these as a favour this week - canvass fabric was totally green in places, also it was approx 10 years old and fraying in places - didn't clean up very well at all.
