decking-not what it seems
« on: May 14, 2010, 06:38:27 am »
ive been cleaning this house with decking for over a year now. the decking looks newish and not green so i never worried about ladderslip till yesterday i put my ladder up and just tested it before i climbed as you do. my ladder slipped away as easy as anything!

bending down to look at it closer i realized the decking isnt wood at all,but some kind of artificial plastic .  my ladders have spikes fitted on them but they werent digging in the decking whatsoever . ive been very lucky that i havent fell in the past on this surface and surely will never use my ladder on it again

moral is -dont assume that decking is made of wood

i never put ladders on decking unless its bone dry wood and the panels are width ways when im facing the ladders.i use a rojak stopper as well.if its wet or even a little bit slippy i use the extension pole.

dont get caught out jonnyald!!

the plastic type stuff i use a pole everytime.

best wishes
