velour upholstery

have my first velour sofa to clean just want to know the best method for this material

Andrew. As Ken posted, what type of velour. You need to find out if it is wet cleanable or needs dry cleaning.
Take a cushion off a chair and dribble a bit of water on the fabric at the zipper end, hold your thumb on the fabric for about a minute. If the pile stays flat then it's a velour...........DO NOT WET CLEAN.

If it's a Viscose or Acrylic then you can wet clean safely. Hope this helps.

As a newbie I find upholstery a mine field.In my NCCA notes it says Dont wet clean viscose as it will distort.........Is this so,according to adimarsh it can be wet cleaned

I'm confused.

Wayne, depends on the Viscose ??? As a flat weave it's not the same as Velour. You're right though, can be a mine field. Rule of thumb, if in doubt, test it!!!!!!!!! If still not sure, walk away and seek advice. You'll get no thank's for ruining somebody's suite.
