I miss pm's
« on: July 13, 2005, 09:30:39 pm »
Personnal messages have gone.

I miss being able to send a quick comment, or a thanks, or a whatever.

I'm not having a go at those up there who had to make that decision but rather I miss pm'ing someone.

Cheers

Ross

Hi Graham

Always the gentleman.

Subtle with that hint of interlect in your choice of words.

Cheers

Same here, Steveyboy, I don't really understand either.

Mike Boxhall (the head honcho of this site) knew it would be an unpopular decision though.

From what I can gather, Mike wants this site to be a quality resource for the cleaning industry.  Not a chat site.  Somewhere where you visit to ask and answer a question related to our industry.

Now that's not a bad idea.

PMs have been abused in the past by other sites, therefore (I guess) the thinking is that they are superflous to requirement.  Although I think there is more to it than just that, although what; I don't know but I remember something about litigation action being taken.!!

Also, some members here like the site strictly formal; no chat or humour.  I've had a couple of complaints directed at myself for posting derogatory 'waffle'; mainly towards our Scottish 'friends'.

Other members like the site 'chatty and humerous'.

Personally, I like a bit of both.

Members have ceased to be members for both reasons.

I think even if someone started a poll (Hint hint) and we stated our reasons, in a logical way for PMs to be brought back, Mike Boxhall may reconsider.

I doubt it though.  Don't hold your breath on this one!

And if anyone threatened to cancell their membership here because PMs wouldn't be brought back; I know what Mike's response would be.

So if a poll was started, then positive reasons only should be given as to why PMs were brought back.
