Call divert
« on: February 17, 2010, 02:43:56 pm »
Noticed more and more recently getting calls while I'm out on my main line number but no one leaving a message, obviously trying elsewhere.
Rung a few back but of course they are already sorted by then.
Currently have a local number on the same line as my home phone but rings with a different tone, also have an 0800 number as well as the mobile.

Spoke to BT to try and enable the local number to be able to divert to my mobile but they say as its on the same line as my home phone it is not possible and say I would need to pay an extra line rental charge.
Not sure if its just them trying to get me to purchase a business line or if this is the case.
The 0800 number also comes through to my mainline number, maybe I should get this to divert to my mobile and use this, just thought that as I was typing.   ???

What setup do you use? And how much are you charged?

I am not sure what i am charged but it is very little my line is through Virgin, i just divert the phones when i go out. thing you have to remember is that on divert YOU are paying for the call so timewasters and salesmen are a pain >:(

Paul,
Surely all you have to do is turn your landline home phone to divert tp your mobile when you go out. That's what I do and Ive got 3, 0800 numbers and a dedicated tracking number. They are all set up to divert to my landline, which then diverts them automatically to my mobile, after I set it to do so when I go out.

I have an 0800 number permanently routed to my mobile , when I go out I divert to  the 0800 numbber and my mobile rings , therefore the diverted portion is free , this saves me 30-40 quid a month.

Thanks all for the replies.
Dave, thats what I was unsure of, so I have my home phone & business number both coming through the same line, then the 0800 which comes through to the same line as well.
So if I divert my home phone number all the numbers will divert automatically???
Although then I guess I'd have to pay the divert charges for all calls, personal, sales and genuine customers.

I have a cellular terminal that will divert calls to our mobile foc we can also dial mobile on the same network as the terninal foc from the house the thing can all be change and re-diverted remotely from any had set it is a very clever piece of kit. Depending  who you mobile contract is with and when it is due it may not cost you any money. | am with orange and had the unit free as an upgrade. Can also dial number from our mobile through the terminal at landline rates.   http://burnsidetelecom.com/site.php/00001.html

It is worth having a chat with Simon as he is very knowledgeable if he cant help you with a free unit he will tell you.

ours is currently the same and works great for us, as when i'm out i still get all the phone calls through to the mobile without an extra charge.

Yes thats it. You do pick up the tab for the diverted part of the call thats why I hang up as soon as I recognise a sales call. However I am with Virgin Media and part of my telephone package includes calls to mobiles, so the divert part is only charged at normal rates and as I never use the total of monthly minutes allowed, doesnt cost me any extra.

I read somewhere that upto 17% of diversion to mobiles are lost, must have put them somewhere why don't we look where we last put them ;D

Actually my missus answers my calls sometimes and the amount of calls she gets compared to me on my mobile is far different so I would say that I am losing some calls due to the airwaves, some call back some don't, some will call at a later time to tell me that they have tried to get through but couldn't.
