Oil Stain Removal From Indian Stone
« on: March 09, 2010, 09:52:30 pm »
What are the chances of removing a few small patches of oil from an Indian Stone Driveway. Has anyone had any success with this and what did you do.

No photos available!

Thanks in advance.

i had to remove oil from granite stone and tried everything and guess what got it out>?  turps.  test a small area with turps and a cloth and rub it.  other than that you need heat or a good detergent.

I am no expert but what i do know is dont use acid based products on indian stone. Is it your driveway, how old is the oil, cat litter usually shifts some but not all, then soapy water scrub and a wash down. Have a trawl on google good sight to look for is the paving expert.com

Fullers earth from Liberon in New Romney. Put a small pile on the stain and it'll wick it out - similar to cats litter in principle but more effective. Only can be done on a dry day

You could try these very cheap and easy tricks, again it depends on how old the stains are.
Mix together washingup liquid with soap power to a peanut butter paste, brush this over the stain then cover with plastic seal the edges down leave for no longer than 24hrs dont let it dry out,be careful of any bleaching might be an idea to try on a bit out the way 1st,then wash off heat would be ideal.
This has worked for me on concrette and stone b4

Or if your brave and its new oil, drop of petrol set alight to it so to burn the oil out, this has also worked for me,dont try it on tarmac nor if the stone has been sealed

BE BLOODY CAREFULL THOUGH DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK

But if you want to spend money then this stuff i use

with mixed results

Been there,seen it,done it,just cant remember when
