ROJAK LADDER STOPPER
« on: June 28, 2005, 12:21:18 pm »
HI ALL
DOES ANYONE USE A ROJAK LADDER STOPPER OR A LADDER MAT?  ANY ADVICE ON BOTH OF THESE PLEASE, CAN THE LADDER BE EXTENDED RIGHT OUT USING THE ROJAK ETC.
DO YOU NEED TO USE ANY OF THE ABOVE TO COINCIDE WITH THE HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS.

                                THANKS

                                  BRETT

I use the Rojak great piece of kit. I have drilled 4 holes one in each corner, so if on grass and need to put ladder out over a roof, you can push in ten pegs to stop it moving.

I agree with Roy.  The Rojak is brilliant.  It's a bit bulky, but can fit in your bucket and I use it on every window that could be viewed as dangerous without a stabalising device.

I must have used it 10 times today.  It takes no time to set up your ladders as you would normally do and just slip the Rojak under the feet (of your ladders of course).

I used to just get 'Wor Lass' to foot my ladder; but it stopped her from working.  In this way; I get more work out of her ;).  It saves her shivering in the winter; while stood there imobile too - telling me to hurry up!

Roy, cracking tip on the holes and tent pegs.  I guess you can use the ladders at a more 'extreme' angle.

I tried to bang a couple of holes through the rubber just to attach a sling to the Rojak, to make it easier to cart around; but the rubber is really tough.

I'll drill the holes into it; the way you describe.

Ladder mats are good to; for uneven surfaces.  I always carry two in my bucket.

I got my rojak a couple of months ago and the difference is instant - you just feel safer and you can lean the ladders out further - I do some windows over small roofs that never got touched before
there's some info on a link from cleantech; I think it's them anyway - where they were tested at Leeds university - its an interesting read and gives confidence in the product

I use a laddermat for houses and first floors on flats and  like it a lot. I also have a laddermate that I use for doing second floor windows on flats.  The laddermate takes slightly longer to put onto the ladder but stops ladder bounce.
