An electronic pump controller (varistream) uses very little battery power, much, much less than having pump running full pelt with a bypass system. ;)

With 2x 11Ltr DI's & 80m of 8mm hose after pump I onlt need the varistream on setting 1. The pump is hardly working, infact you can hear each revolution, call it- ticking over.

No, I had my cleantech pump box made with a cig lighter plug on one end of the power cable. You can buy the cig lighter plugs from Halfords for a couple of quid. ;)

I've had two pump box's. one with bypass & one with digi' varistream & as said, the latter uses far less battery power as the pump only uses exactly what it needs being controlled this way.

so in theory then all i would need is some cable and a ciggarette lighter from halfords if so you have just saved me £100 as i was gonna pay an auto eleccie to wire in a split charge system ::) ::) ::)

Careful with the cigarette lighter plugs I had one connected to a battery box and it started melting I think they are only rated at about 4 amps, after Dave mentioned about his set-up I ran a  fused live from the van battery and its been fine, and my backs better for not carrying the leisure battery up stairs for charging.

I have a Peugot Partner and I have always just run my system off the main battery. Never ever had a problem.

Yes, you do on my kangoo but I took the chip out of one key so it won't start the van. This is the key which I leave in to run pump. ;)

I have had a Halfords plug melt on me before but I only taped the wires up inside. When I got a new one I soldered them properly & it never happened again. They do have a fuse inside & I would advise you to buy some spares while you're there as they are a odd size & not available from just anywhere.

The Halfords plug, to be honest, is not the best quality but does the job if you fix it up properly. The one which came from cleantech is much better quality, the whole box, pump controller, cable/plug has given me no problem in the two years I've had it.

Might be an idea to search out a better plug when you get time. ;)
