123 reg. advice and help needed
« on: January 12, 2010, 10:15:26 pm »
evening all.
looking for me site to go live soon so starting to look into domains and hosting.
its a pretty basic site with a few pics. when i check the root folder its under 50meg so i wont need a huge amount of hosting space.

when i choose the domain i want it goes to hosting + extras.
it give a option to add a email addy for £10 a year but under the hosting box it says the starter package at £29 has 15 mail boxes. what are these mail boxes if there not email addys?

anybody had any probs with 123reg or got any tips for me before i part with my hard earned?

thanks for your help

i bought my .co.uk domain with 123, but bought .com and my hosting with godaddy.

for .com and hosting godaddy have a great price. If you choose hosting first, they offer you a .com domain for $1 I think (or very cheap anyway) Then use the code LINUX20 you'll get 20% off the price of hosting, which isn't that much anyway, maybe £50 ish for the year.

With that hosting you get email addresses for free too, but you can just nominate 1 address as a 'catchall' - so anything@yourdomain.com will go to your email.

I have no affiliation with either company. I have only used 123 for registering .co.uk domains then pointed the name servers to the godaddy hosting
