Accused of scratching glass?

What do you do if you are accused by a first time customer of scratching their glass and you know it wasn't you?

Tell them that you will adress the issue with your insurance company!
They will send round an insurance assessor to determain who was to blame, remember the insurance company will be on your side as they don't want to pay out.
If the assessor deems it's not my fault, I would pass the cost of the assessor onto the customer.

Wfp.

She's had the builders in (you now where I'm taking you...) and wanted the glass done to 'finish' off the works.  I reckon the builders have done their best to scratch them and she's put 2+2 together and come up with 5, meaning she can blame me.

Had this a few years ago,I went round,gave her the tools i used to clean her windows with and asked her to try and scratch the glass with them,if she could then i would pay for a new piece of glass.I think you know the outcome..............

the thing with builder cleans you have to go round an record every fault beforehand to keep your self right, too much hassle.

did she say if she called the builder to complain to him?

Right, step back a bit. You say you know it wasn't you so say that and stick to it and drop her. Write down details of the conversations and keep a log. Log that builders have been.

Tell your insurers that you have been accused and that you firmly deny any responsibility and log the call so that it can be referred to later. Listen to what they say and follow their advice.

If she puts the accusation in writing then tell your insurer and remind them that you firmly deny any culpability. Listen to what they say. Be prepared to see a solicitor too.

I hope she backs off.

Ok, this is why we have PL insurance.. (and I hope everyone else here has it too...)

My broker says to sit and wait and see if she instructs a solicitor in this regards, and to admit nothing, which I'm not.

If she tries to sue, my insurance will cover the costs if she is successfull or not.

I have cleaned thousands upon thousands of windows for hundreds of people!  Why this and why now?!!!

Glad to be insured, I can tell you.

I'm locking this now as I don't want anything else said on the matter, but thanks for the feedback/ideas Gold and others.
