As the title suggests whats the best way to agitate a loop pile wool carpet just fitted a log burner at home & got some coal dust on the carpet, which won't come out.

Might be a common problem for you guys with more people turning to log burners!!

Shouldn't be a problem, Ultrapac Renovate should deal with the soot/coal and agitate with Sebo Duo, acid rinse.... If you aren't a carpet cleaner, get one in Good luck!

should be fine with the duo but if your concerned about causing probs use a brush better safe than sorry.

Get a carpet cleaner in to sort the problem, it will be cheaper than replacing the carpet.

For wool loop pile, if it's prone to pilling, the best method of agitation I can find that doesn't distort the pile is to use a groomer, either full size (you've used one of these when you came out with me for the day) or hand-held depending on area involved.  More time spent using it less aggressively would be the best thing to do.

I'd be careful with brushes, either manual or powered like the sebo.  Quite often you only realise the damage can be done after it's too late.  give me a call if you're struggling

I agree with Jim.  Try a small test area first and if it pills a lot be more careful.  Also, a tip I was given is if you agitate in line with the loops and not across them this will help to negate pilling to a degree

Unfortunately due a certain family situation I have not been able to start cc'ing.
(though I keep an eye on this site etc,  if things change then it's what I want to do!)

There is a cleaning company across the road from my work -Jangro.
Will see if they will hire me a groomer , presprayer equip & hwe & chems as I would like to have a go after my NCCA training back in June.

If they won't, then will look for a NCCA member in my area .

Wife has just rang me at work to mention our 2 yr old lab has decided to forget where to do his business!    first time since he was toilet trained as a pup. No better reminder than that to sort the carpet.

PS. as Jim has said I wouldnt consider mechanical agitation on this type of carpet either.
