Was chating to a mate last night ,who happens to be a dj on a local radio station.We got talking about my advertising  etc,they do a 4 week ad slot for £120,now not sure how many times a day that would get played,who the audience are,demographic etc.
But was wondering if anyone else here had tried it ?
Seriously considdering it to be honest,well after i have seen some figures etc,want to know how many listners they have ,their age etc.
but thought for the sake of £120,for 4 weeks can`t really go wrong,would only take 1 job to pay for it !

I've had a couple of jobs when the local radio were doing a promotion thing and my business got a mention.... For that price it seems a bit of a steal..... Definately worth a try...

I made enquirys on our local station and i think your mate might have left a 0 off. They quote me min £1000.00., but if yours is only £120 i would go for it.

The local radio station here charges MUCH more then £120, although it alters at different times of day and frequency of advert.
But that is cheap, if its genuine I would try it.

Yeah it`s a small comuinity radio station,charity too,had a look at their website,all seems above board.Not sure what the listner figures are yet,it`s def worth looking into though for that money

listener figures, well that's a tricky one, the accepted measure is RAJAR but just like IQ as a measure for intelligence RAJAR has it's faults and is corruptable. What we know for fact is we are attracting near on 150,000 UNIQUE IP visitors to the webiste eacyh and every month. This is down to the fact that on FM we broadcast within the city but we have a lot of interest from the outlying villages

demographics, well unlike all other stations we do not target one section of society, think kiss targetting the younger market/clubbers et al and Heart going for the middle england types. because we have such a varied range of programming covering almost all aspects of cambridge life we can honestly say that EVERYBODY in Cambridge is our target listener as we have a show for everyone

ads... we have 3 packages and each one delievrs a different number of plays, with a focus on prime time plays.

Recession package is £120 plus £45 production costs. this delivers 48 ads over a 4 week period with 20 being prime time plays

One Hundred pacakgae is £200 for 4 weeks delivering 100 ads over the period with 44 being prime time plays

Premium is £360 for 4 weeks delivering 200 ads over the period with 88 of them being prime time plays

We tried it with a local radio station in Wigan for about 3 months earlier this year, didn't really work. For it to have a real impact you have to be on very frequently indeed and that is mega expensive to do. But if you an try it for £120, got for it, you're hardly betting your shirt on it.

Tried it a few years ago.
Had a radio ad running as well as an ad in the local paper.
My theory was that the subliminal effect of the radio would boost the response to the ad in the paper.
We asked everyone that rang for the next few weeks and not one recalled hearing the radio ad but the subliminal thing may have worked and they just did not realise.
So I still do not know if it works but may be worth a try.

I think you said it - you got to run a radio adv in conjunction with other advertising.
Thats more cost - but if it works thats all good. But does it work.

had mine on for 2 months for £300 12 ads a day. got one call from the add an that was yellow pages on the prowl trying to screw me for going in 4 yellow pages.
never again. rather give the money to charity than waste it on a radio add.
if it works in your area thats great.

good idea that.

radio add should be to win a brand new top of the range dyson, all they do is go to your website and fill in a questionaire about carpet cleaning. questions like do you clean them your self, have you had a bad experience blah blah blah.

total cost £400. add plus dyson.

benefits to you
you'll see how much responce a radio add gets.
you'll get data on how people see carpet cleaning
you'll get a demographic data base of custies looking and not looking for cc with addresses for possible leafletting.
and finally, your wife will surely win a brand new dyson
